“We purchased this drawer dishwasher in November 2007 to replace an underperforming GE profile. It was a difficult decision to spend this kind of money on a dishwasher when there were so many other options for a lot less money. In the end, two features sold us: the separate cutlery rack and the half load feature.
For the cutlery tray, we like it because it gives us additional space in the bottom rack since we no longer need the cutlery basket down there. However, the cutlery doesn’t clean quite as well in the rack, so you do need to make sure it doesn’t have peanut butter or anything else very sticky on the silverware. We haven’t used the half load feature as much as we thought we would, but it has worked fine the times that we have used it.
There are several features that we didn’t realize would be as valuable as they’ve turned out to be. First is the steam setting. We were concerned that this might turn out to be a gimmick. It’s worked very well at cleaning, especially baked-on food in casserole dishes. Even when it doesn’t get everything perfectly cleaned off, the remains don’t get dried on and crusty like in other dishwashers we’ve had – they end up soft and very easy to clean. The light is another feature that’s turned out to be much more valuable than we anticipated, silly as it may seem at first. Last, the dishwasher is very quiet You can easily have a conversation standing right next to it even when it’s at its loudest.
So for the negatives – obviously the first is the cost. We got very lucky on this because Best Buy had it on sale for about $75 off, but we purchased it at a competing chain and got them to price match and take an additional 10% off the sale price. That saved us well over $200 off the list price. Number two is the number of wine glasses it can hold – our old dishwasher could hold eight without interfering with other glasses in the rack. This one only holds about four, and when you use the supports for the wine glass stems you end up blocking two rows of space. I wish this had been designed better. Last negative thing is the smell. When you leave dishes in there for a couple of days, they really start to reek. I’ve never experienced this with another dishwasher, so I wonder if this one is more airtight than most.
Overall, we are satisfied with the purchase. It was expensive, but it’s worked reliably for us.”

“Reading these reviews that people have said about the LG Dishwasher, scares me! Unless I have just been lucky, I have had ZERO problems with mine. We have had it for 2 years plus I had the model up in another house for a year before we sold that house. We also had no problems with that one. Hints why we bought another with the new house!

Here is a few specs that Best Buy has on their site:

Hidden control panel is simple to operate and provides a contemporary look;

lockout feature allows you to lock the controls, preventing unintentional and unsupervised use.

Sense-Clean wash system uses 3 wash arms to thoroughly clean dishes on both the top and bottom racks
5 cycles handle all of your dish cleaning needs, including power scrub, normal, delicate and rinse only; sanitary rinse uses 161° rinse water to kill most food bacteria for dishes that are completely clean

Customizable upper rack and fold-down tines in the lower rack adjust to accommodate dishware of various shapes and sizes, creating space in the tub for everything on your table; tub can hold up to 16 place settings

3 detachable cutlery baskets with covers offer convenient and secure storage for specialty cooking tools and silverware; cup rack holds glasses in place; stemware holder secures delicate glassware during washing

Rinse aid dispenser with refill light disperses the correct amount of rinse aid during the cycle for improved results

Add-a-dish feature allows you to add a forgotten dish after the cycle has begun

Stainless-steel, hard-food disposer finely grinds food particles into pieces small enough to be rinsed away, eliminating the need to prewash;

self-cleaning filter prevents food from being deposited on clean dishware

OptiDry Hybrid drying system combines condensation and fan drying, for faster drying with reduced spotting;

delay-start option lets you program the dishwasher to begin when it is most convenient for you, from 1 to 12 hours

Durable stainless-steel tub withstands everyday use;

end-cycle indicator alerts you when the cycle is complete so you can plan accordingly

Lo Decibel quiet operation eliminates most operational noise, so you can enjoy peace and quiet while taking care of the dishes

With all that out of the way, I can tell you how great it has been for us! First off, you cant hear the thing run! No need to run it when your a sleep or gone. You can not here it! I open it every now and then to make sure its working! My neighbor calls in “The Ferrari of Dishwashers!”

So far as the Jet Dry Feature. I also have had no problems with that working! How ever I do not use Jet Dry. I use just plain Vinegar! It does the exact same thing but only 3% of the cost! My glasses always come out spot free!

As far as the dishes. I leave everything on them! Dried egg, macaroni, sauce, you name it! It never has a problem cleaning the dishes! The built in disposal grinds it all away with ease! It too, leaves the dishes spot free!

The child lock just keeps the kids from changing the settings! Unfortunately, it does not lock the door from them opening it.

I really wish they added that to the features!

The buttons are all on the top and light up when you activate them. The button lay out is very easy to read and the dishwasher of course is very simple to use!

The cutlery baskets are great too! You can detach them and place them in other areas of the dishwasher if needed. One of the baskets has an adjustable lid that move up and down! This feature is great for baby supplies. It will keep them together so they don’t get thrown around the dishwasher from the 4 levels of sprayers.

Also, on the top rack on the right hand side, it has an adjustable lid. This also is designed for baby bottles or cups. What you do is put the bottles or cups there and put the little lid down on top of it to hold it in place. There are also little cut out slots to put the baby nipples so they can be cleaned. You can also put small baby items like bottle lids or sippey cup lids on top of those shelf’s.

Like I said, I have had ZERO problems with this dishwasher. My friends liked it so much that 3 of them went and bought the same ones. They have had theirs for over 1 year, and they to feel the same as us. They love it, and also have had no problems.

I bought my first one at Best Buy, the new house I bought it from Home Depot. Two of my friends bought theirs at Best Buy and the other bought theirs at Conns. All of them have been priced the same and are working awesome.

Of course with any appliance, I would always buy the extended warranty. I have yet to use mine, but it is just added assurance.

This is not a review based on one dishwasher. This is based on 5 that I know of. If I can get them to write a review, we can change the rating on it. You cant go wrong!

I highly recommend this dishwasher!”

“Overall I have been happy with this dishwasher. I bought mine at Home Depot about 10 months ago. Initially mine leaked from what appeared to be the bottom of the door. Getting service was spotty initially. The person who came knew less about the machine than I did. The gasket around the door was replaced but that did not fix the problem. After several service calls and some frustration LG replaced the unit. The replacement took place about 3-4 weeks after the first unit. Since then, the dishwasher has worked flawlessly. Apparently, LG maintains a customer service department for Home Depot customers if your complaint cannot be resolved by the primary customer service department. I only reached this elevated service department after expressing my displeasure with the service agents lack of knowledge and the continued leaks. I would consider buying this unit again if its operation continues as it has for the last 9 months. I would guess that the machines are relatively trouble free since there are not many posts at this web site or across the web. Functionally, the machine is incredibly quiet, cleans very well, holds a lot of dishes and has enough different settings for my uses (a family of 4). My only dislike at this point is the lower basket. The layout of the prong works well for dishes but not for bowls. I hope my experience is helpful.”

“We loved the dishwasher until a piece of glass damaged the drain pump. It was no longer under warranty, so (fine) I’ll pay out of pocket to have someone come fix it. Trouble is, THERE IS NO ONE out there who will come fix this machine. The LG support people could give me only two people in the whole Pacific Northwest who service these machines. One person said our house was too far away. The other guy has never bothered to call back after several weeks of messages. I called back the LG “service” people and they said, “Oh well… there’s nothing we can do” I tried the yellow pages to find anyone who will service an LG, and they all say, “call the LG service department. We don’t work on those machines.” This is supposedly a high-end dishwasher, but I’m stuck with an $800 piece of junk in my kitchen.”

“I bought this LG dishwasher at Home Depot and had to wait 2 weeks for delivery THEN I read all the negative reviews about LG and worried I’d made the wrong decision. It was installed 2 months ago and I LOVE it. It does have a long basic wash cycle, 2hrs. 15 mins. I replaced an 8 year old Amana that was literally falling apart. It’s wash time was half the time, but there were always a few dishes that needed rewashed, it left horrible spots and the dishes were always wet and I always had to use pot scrubber cycle to get them the cleanest. We do 2 loads of dishes a day on the regular cycle in the LG and I have yet to rewash a dish. (It also surprised us by playing a nice little musical tune to let you know it’s finished!) We have very hard water so I have always used a rinse aid, (which is recommended to get dishes dry in a unit with no heat element, which this LG unit is) and the dishes in my LG unit come out totally dry, no spots. The best feature is it is VERY quiet. We have an open floor plan and our kitchen is open to the living room, so this was a very important feature. I used to wait until everyone went to bed to run the dishwasher. I actually had a party and we were in the kitchen with it running and my guests were shocked it was on. We have oak floors and the venting on the floor did worry me, but so far it seems fine. It may get a small amount of moisture after a load, but my floors are sealed and while I do have damage under my pet’s water bowl from water that gets under the bowl and can’t dry, the washer’s vent steam condensation dries off the floor very quickly. My only complaints are the bottom rack’s tines are very close together and are not foldable. We have some deep bowls that don’t fit very well and it took some time to figure out how to position them. Also, the covers on the silverware basket are annoying as were the stemware holders on the top rack. I just popped them all off, they are removable, and it’s perfectly fine without them. I do have some experience with other brands of dishwashers. In a previous house I remodeled a kitchen and bought a top of the line $1,000+ Whirlpool machine that had a plastic interior (not SS like the LG) and the machine was rated #1 by Consumer’s Report. I HATED that washer from day 1! The silverware basket was attached to the door (they are still that way) and is the WORST design ever. The basket was small, large utensils never fit, it fell open spilling silverware into the bottom of the dishwasher, and NEVER got the silverware clean. The rest of it was awful too: dishes were always spotted, never dry, and never clean, yet everyone raved about it on line and in the consumer publications. I even had a repair person come out twice under the warranty thinking I had a faulty machine.  Both repair people said they had a lot of complaints about the high-end Whirlpool machines and nothing was wrong with mine, that’s just how it worked.  I even called Whirlpool to see if they would replace or exchange it, but since it was more than 30 days old, they wouldn’t do anything.  In our first “starter” house I had bought a cheap $280 Frigidaire dishwasher and loved it. After my Whirlpool experience I swore I would never pay that much for a dishwasher again. I actually went over budget with this LG but it had a lot of “upscale” options for a mid-range price. It also goes to show you that one person’s experience isn’t necessarily everyone’s experience. I love the LG (so far!), the price is good for the options it offers (stainless steel interior, quiet, very nice looking) and so far it’s exceeded my expectations. From my experienceits the best dishwasher, I recommend it.”

“I am surprised to see any negative comments about this great dishwasher.  Having had Kitchenaid and Kenmore models in the past, I can say that this LG outshines them all. With a 52 db noise rating, it is virtually silent.  Glasses come out spotless, and it has a beautiful design. It also comes with an adjustable top rack with tines to hold your stemware in place. I would recommend this dishwasher wholeheartedly.”

“The LG 7811 in stainless steel first caught my eye with its sleek design. We were unsure about LG’s track record and about how it would perform, but we bought it anyway based on its looks, a couple reviews about how quiet and advanced it was, and

the fact that it matched our LG fridge as well as matching rather closely to our Jenn-Air wall oven.
THE FANCY FEATURES
-Ultra large capacity stainless steel tub fits 16 placesettings and dishes up to 14” in the lower rack (the largest on the market so far)
-Slim direct inverter motor is quiet, efficient and smaller to allow for more tub space.
-Hybrid drying system minimizes venting humid air into your kitchen and dries better than condensing type systems (so they say anyway)
-Self cleaning filter that grinds larger food bits up while clean water goes past a soil sensor as it recirculates
-Extra rinse option and Sanitary rinse, which brings the water up to 161ºF
-3 spray arms with choice of soft, medium or strong spray
-Wash options include delicate, normal, power scrub, soak, rinse, and quick wash
-Energy-friendly Half load option allows you to pick just the upper or lower rack to wash
-Delay start anywhere from 1-24 hours
-Child lock
-Adjustable racks and folding/removable tines
-Stemware holder holds wineglasses in place beautifully
-Large utensil basket has a grid to separate flatware and prevent “spooning”

OOH SO PRETTY!
It owes its sleek clean looks largely in part to the lack of buttons and knobs that tend to clutter up the front of most dishwashers, yet it still has a very handy display in the top corner that tells you which part of the cycle it’s currently in and the remaining wash time, as well as alerting you that you’re out of rinse aid. The buttons are located at the top and are only visible when the door is opened. I give it an A+ for looks.

WHAT I LOVE ABOUT IT
This baby is quiet! Our open kitchen necessitated quiet appliances so that we could watch television or entertain without the annoying racket of most dishwashers, and this LG washer did not let me down. I have no firsthand experience with high end brands like Bosch or Miel, but it was loads quieter than anything I’ve ever heard. It’s much quieter than my microwave. The

sound it makes reminds me of the hum and whir of a very large fish tank- complete with the soft trickling sound of water. The first time we ran it, I kept opening it because I thought it was still filling with water when it was actually washing away. The fit and finish and overall feel of this machine is very pleasing. The buttons located at the top of the door are very positive feeling and make a pleasant soft chime when pressed. This machine also seems to use much less detergent than the previous dishwashers we’ve seen and used. Gets an A for noise and overall feel.

BUT DOES IT CLEAN?
I ran a few everyday dish loads using the normal cycle with sanitizing, and everything came out sparkling clean. I then stopped rinsing off the dishes like I was used to doing, and things still got clean. So then, I took it a step further and left lots of dried on food and yuck all over everything and things still came out clean, although if I turned off the sanitizing feature on these crusty loads, I noticed there was food still stuck in the baby food jars. Lighter plastic items were also less inclined to overturn than with my previous washers. Impressed with what it did with normal dishes, I decided to put the other wash cycles to the test with larger, dirtier items. Pyrex baking pans with baked on food came out squeaky clean. A large vase with cruddy muck and a water ring came out surprisingly clean considering it’s odd shape (large base, narrow neck). A pressure cooker that had cooked-on beef stew on the sides came out with the crusty ring still there. Perhaps I got a little overzealous though because this thing took some major elbow grease to clean. I give it an A on it’s impressive cleaning ability.

IMPROVEMENTS TO BE MADE
I was disappointed with the drying capabilities. It did well with everything (no spots and without rinse-aid) but not with plastic. I thought surely if I spent this much on a dishwasher, it would dry plastic. Not so. Not only did all the plastic items remain as wet as if they had never gone through a drying cycle, but the pools of water that collect in the coffee cup bottoms were quite large. Also, any item that is in contact with the plastic parts of the dishwasher, like the utensil and stemware holder (ie, all your wine glasses), end up wet when you remove them- very annoying. I did like how it didn’t vent steamy air into the kitchen however. It gets a C+ for drying ability. **UPDATE** The drying greatly improved with the use of a rinse aid(jet dry), with considerably much smaller pools of water left and plastic that was about 80% dry. I’ll increase the grade for drying ability to a B but am still disappointed that a dishwasher this expensive still required a $2 bottle of rinse aid. Apparently it’s quite difficult to get an LG appliance that is not somehow damaged in shipping. We received an LG refrigerator and a dishwasher that were both damaged. A Best Buy employee actually said that 3 out of 4 LG appliances are damaged in shipping, so inspect your appliances carefully before accepting them! The dishwasher we received had a rather large dent in the sheet metal but fortunately it was on the back and did not impair function or installation. The rough handling our dishwater got also broke off one of two clips holding one of the folding dish racks. Upon further examination, this was due largely in part to poor design since the remaining clip was still intact and doing the job, but seemed flimsy and easy to break.
The installation is not for beginners as it requires more precision and very little room for error when attaching the plumbing. The instructions also failed to mention how to attach the unit to the cabinet- we found that there were brackets hidden in the utensil basket instead of with the rest of the hardware.”

“We purchased and had installed this dishwasher last month, and I can’t say enough GOOD things about it! Cleans dishes (even those baked on cookie sheets) with ease, the adjustable top shelf enables LARGE items to fit on the bottom rack, and QUIET, QUIET, QUIET! It actually is quieter than my Maytag fridge!

I’ve noticed that most of the complaints about non-working/broken upon delivery complaints were from Best Buy. We purchased ours from an appliance store (HHgregg) and it was delivered in MINT condition, installed quickly & easily and WORKS!”

“Dishwashers are one of the most helpful devices in the home – they save you endless hours in the kitchen, they keep bacteria

to a minimal and they keep your dishes in good condition – well we hope don’t we?

Wel Lg using their ‘Fuzzy Logic’ system has created a machine that exceeds the above requirements – it includes:
* Fan Drying
* Fold down tiers
* 14 Place setting
^ Adjustable top rack
* knife rack
* Stemmed Glass support
* Direct Injection spray arms
* Planetary arm – it reaches all the corners
* Backlit display

This machine has been a valuable and productive member of the household. It has the ability to clean any dishes to

perfection, leaves them bone dry and streak free. By using the vario system – it washes only one basket at a time -using a

higher pressure on each basket = more effective wash. It has a easy to read and logical display panel, childlock to stop kids

initiating cycles and even a countdown timer.

It washes with as little as 18 litres of water, and has a 4 star energy rating”
